With proper care, it will continue to bloom for months, while its jasmine-like fragrance creates a soothing atmosphere in your living room and bedroom. Care tips

A light, sunny location

This means plenty of sunlight but not in bright sunlight. A place in the windowsill is ideal. When the leaves turn brown, this can be a sign of too much direct sunlight. The dropping of flower buds or lack of flowering can indicate a possible lack of sunlight.

Keep moist, the potting soil must not dry out

Water the Gardenia regularly. Especially if the plant gets a lot of sunlight, it needs a lot of water. A gardenia is a tropical plant and therefore likes moisture. It really can't stand dryness, but of course it doesn't like wet feet either. Water it about three times a week. The amount of water depends on the size of the pot, but make sure the soil stays moist. Simply watering on top of the potting soil is fine, but putting the pot in a layer of water for a few minutes is also a good way to water.

Remove old flowers

The flowers turn yellow/brown in colour as they get older. This does not mean that the Gardenia is not doing well. Just remove these old flowers, which will promote continued flowering. There are enough flower buds in your Gardenia to ensure that a beautiful new flower will appear again.
